A New Era in Packaging with the PPWR

The European Union’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is driving a significant transformation towards a more circular packaging industry. The regulation aims to improve the recyclability of packaging by 2030, encourage the use of specified levels of post-consumer recycled content in plastic packaging, and reduce unnecessary packaging.

From the sorting and processing of post-consumer plastic waste to regranulation and the production of new film and packaging products from recycled LDPE raw materials, this integrated structure ensures that materials are no longer treated as single-use resources but are returned to the production cycle.

Gürpilsan’s flexible packaging products can contain up to 100% recycled plastic. In certain product groups, post-consumer recycled LDPE (PCR) raw material is used. This contributes to reducing the use of virgin plastic and returning recovered materials to the economy.

With the PPWR, criteria such as recyclability and recycled content levels are becoming increasingly decisive in companies’ packaging choices.

Gürpilsan’s integrated recycling and production infrastructure focuses precisely on the key aspects of this transformation: converting waste back into raw material, using recycled materials in production, and developing products that can be reintegrated into the cycle after use. Gürpilsan also offers RecyClass- and Blue Angel-certified options for selected packaging products.
