As one of the largest European plastic recycling and manufacturing company, we know our actions and choices matter. To make a positive change, we must not act alone and ought to have a plan which we can follow every day. Our sustainability ambitions are clear, as we work towards our targets, we’ll keep looking for more ways to run our business in a sustainable way, enhancing growth while decreasing our environmental impact.

We at Gürpilsan Plastik are fully committed to our responsibility towards society and the environment. This is also evident in our corporate purpose: We enhance the quality of daily life and strive to create a more sustainable world through our high-performance, innovative plastic films. Furthermore, we have set ourselves ambitious sustainability targets and we are continuously working to contribute to a sustainable future. Our sustainability strategy is based on the Environment, Social and Circularity and the areas of action of the United Nations, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

How we’re contributing to a greener, cleaner world?

Sustainability and ESG are at the core of Gürpilsan Plastik’s purpose. We focus on protecting the world by transforming waste into value, providing waste-to-value solutions that benefits our customers, investors, employees, communities and the planet. We prioritize seven of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), launched in 2015, which aim to “achieve a better and more sustainable future for all” by uniting the world, eradicating poverty and addressing climate change.

 

Good health and wellbeing

Keeping employees safe and well is a key objective, and we have the same responsibility to local communities.

Clean water and sanitation

One of our key treatment activities is cleaning waste water to make it re-useable.

 

Affordable and clean energy

We lower our carbon footprint by using renewable energy and we sell green energy produced on site.

Sustainable cities and communities

We reduce our carbon emissions while collecting waste in cities and urban areas.

 

Responsible consumption
and production

We enable the circular economy by supporting responsible consumption and production.

Climate action

We take action to protect the climate by carbon avoidance and recycling waste that would otherwise be sent to incineration or landfill.

Industry, innovation and infrastructure

We take action to upgrade infrastructure and retrofit industries to make them sustainable, with increased resource-use efficiency and greater adoption of clean and environmentally sound technologies and industrial processes, with all countries taking action in accordance with their respective capabilities.

Sustainability is important to us. We want to grow while keeping our values and goals, enhancing circular economy.

At Gürpilsan Plastik we are raising social awareness and environmental responsibility through an optimized management of our manufacturing process as well as maximizing the performance of available resources. We reduce waste generation and production residues are processed to be reused and transformed into a new recycled material that will be exploited and reintroduced into the market. This sets up a continuous development cycle in which the materials and products obtained have a longer lifespan. Our aim is to offer our customers an optimal packaging solution for their specific application by minimizing the use of resources (material, energy, time). We are committed to developing innovative product solutions that enable the use of recycled materials in particular. Working with our customers and partners, we are working together to push the boundaries of what is possible in order to drive forward the development of a truly circular economy.

Protecting the Environment and Reducing our Impact on the World Tackling climate change is the defining issue of our generation. It demands action across every area of the economy, with no business able to ignore their responsibility to take action. Future generations will judge us on the decisions we make now – there is no time to lose. The waste recycling sector is no exception. At Gürpilsan Plastik, we are fully committed to limiting our environmental impact as much as possible. We are doing our part to protect the planet with committed focus on our operations, actions, products, and solutions. Being both a major recycler of waste flexible plastic film and a manufacturer of waste collection sacks, food wraps and films, Gürpilsan Plastik takes stewardship of natural resources very seriously.

• Supporting environmental organizations, projects and educational institutions in research and development to reduce pollution.

• Developing products for a circularity that reduce environmental footprint. Our eco-conscious waste bags are made from up to 100 % post-consumer waste and are recyclable.

Circularity

Our aim is a 100% closed circle of the manufacturing process We are trying to implement closed circle of full recycling of our production. This process aims to use all waste materials in producing new products by implementing ecological resources. Circularity is the only way to ensure that what has been created is reused again, and less waste is generated. We believe in second life for plastics (and third and fourth, and so on), because recycling reduces the amount of plastic pollution in our planet and reduces the use of non-renewable resources. We recover plastic waste that has already fulfilled its mission and put it back into circularity loop. Each bag we produce is recyclable again.
